Are you a student and need to find an internship? Airlie Gardens is a great place to get hands-on experience in your area of study. Airlie is also a great place to learn about how a non-profit organization operates. We have opportunities for the following internships:
Environmental Education/Programs – Assisting with habitat or lifecycle interpretation during special events and staffing for booths at relevant outreach festivals. Background in education or environmental science preferred. Specialized training and background checks are required. 40+ hour internships required. Guest Services & Tourism – Work alongside our Guest Services staff in a unique working environment that combines non-profit, tourism and local government in one organization. Gain experience in volunteer management, gift shop operations, membership policies, customer service, scheduling events, and wedding/event operations. We prefer students looking for 100+ hour internships, or that are willing to commit to at least 8 hours per week for 8 weeks or more. Weddings & Events (seasonal)- Interns will become proficient and knowledgeable in what it takes to run a successful event. They will gain direct experience in selling/booking a venue, venue coordination, organizing vendor set-up and breakdown, ceremony/reception logistics, and promoting a wedding venue. Other opportunities would be available to assist staff during signature events. Must have night/weekend availability. Parks and Recreation – Airlie Gardens is part of the Parks and Gardens Department of New Hanover County. How does it work?
- Interns must be currently enrolled in a college, university, educational institution or vocational school or program.
