Hurricane Florence Update (9/25/18): Airlie Gardens will be closed until further notice as we recover from Hurricane Florence. Our goal is to be open to the public late October or early November.
As part of Airlie’s mission to provide excellent customer service, we are pleased to offer our Accessibility Tram program. These 7-passenger trams were made possible for Airlie through funding from the Catherine Kennedy Home Foundation, the Cape Fear Memorial Foundation and the Airlie Gardens Foundation.
Accessibility Trams are available to those who may need assistance traveling through the garden. There is no additional fee for utilizing the Tram service. There are 6 tram stops located within the garden, with resting benches at each location. Airlie does not accept special reservations for Trams. Guests wishing to take advantage of our Tram service should plan their visit on a specified date and time as noted on our Tram Schedule. The tram will not run on a regularly scheduled basis during the Winter months of January and February due to colder weather conditions. For information about winter tram schedules, check the calendar for specific dates or please call the main office number at (910)798-7700. Trams do not run in high winds or rain, or during special events. Airlie’s Trams are not wheelchair accessible, however 95% of Airlie’s pathways are wheelchair accessible and we offer a wheelchair check-out at the front desk on a first come first serve basis.
Please note that our Tram program is volunteer operated and dates are sometimes added or removed, so please check the schedule frequently. This schedule is kept up to 2 months in advance. If you have any questions about the Tram, please call our main office at (910)798-7700.
