Learn and observe how banding works for tiny hummingbirds! Naturalist Susan Campbell and her team from the NC Hummingbird Research Program will demonstrate the process of hummingbird banding, a critical component of hummingbird research. Get an up close look at some of our most energetic and charismatic birds!

A non-profit through The NC Museum of Natural Science Friends, dedicated to the study and preservation of hummingbirds. Their research programs for hummingbirds have been under way since 1999. Using federally required permits as well as state permits they are authorized to capture and band hummingbirds across North Carolina. All of the banding activities are monitored by the United States Geological Survey, Biological Resources Division, Bird Banding Laboratory.
