Summer Concert Series– enjoy music on the Oak Lawn the first and third Friday of every month, May-September from 6-8pm starting May 19th 2017. All parking is off-site at the The New Hanover County Government Center(West Entrance facing College Road)230 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403. A free shuttle service starting at 5pm will take you to and from the gardens(shuttles will run all evening)! Tickets must be purchased in advance, and will sell out.! General Admission Tickets may be purchased online or onsite in the Gift Shop(9am-4pm).
Summer Butterfly Releases- Tuesdays, June 13th-August 15th 2017(there will be no release on July 4th); An educator will be in the Butterfly House starting with information on butterfly life cycles and the types of butterflies that are in the Butterfly House that week. Butterflies will then be released . In case of rain, we will have an educator in our classroom. Guests will still be able to observe butterflies. Butterfly releases are free for Airlie members and included with garden admission. No pre-registration is required.
Bird Hikes–Fly over to Airlie Gardens to participate in our monthly Bird Hikes, co-hosted with our partner, Wild Bird & Garden! Birders of all levels are encouraged to join us at 8am on the second Wednesday of each month. Our diverse habitat types and plentiful natural areas mean Airlie offers some of the best birding in New Hanover County, with nearly 200 species of birds recorded. Recommended age 12 and up. Please bring binoculars if you have them and dress for the weather. No preregistration is required. Click here for more information.
Educator in the Garden- Ever wonder what kinds of ducks are in the lake, or what kinds of creatures live in the salt marsh? Each month, Airlie’s education staff will set up displays and interactive activities on topics that vary seasonally. Come see us on the third Thursday of the month from 2pm to 4pm! Free for members and included with regular garden admission. Ask the ticket agent for the location, as it will vary from month to month. The Educator in the Garden series is made possible by the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Ribbon of Hope Grant for science education. Click here for more information.
Annual Airlie Oyster Roast– our biggest fundraiser of the year is always the third Friday in October. This year’s event is Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6pm-10pm. This year featuring The Band of Oz! We sold out last year, so make sure you get your tickets early!
Enchanted Airlie– our annual holiday light show always begins the Friday after Thanksgiving and runs until just before Christmas. We have two shows each night 5-7 or 7-9 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, & Sunday nights. Tickets must be pre-purchased, and will go on sale the 2nd week of October. Click here for more information.
